ENAMEL, DIAMOND, SAPPHIRE AND RUBY BROOCH, ca. 1890. Platinum over yellow gold. Very decorative brooch in the shape of a butterfly, the wings are mounted "en tremblant", the body set with 1 oval sapphire and mounted with old-mine-cut diamonds. The wings are in plique-à-jour enamel in blue-green tones, decorated with 4 sapphire cabochons. The wing borders are partially set with diamond roses. Total weight of the sapphires ca. 2.00 ct, the diamonds ca. 1.90 ct. Removable fastener. Probably of French provenance, master craftman's mark illegible.
