GREEN HORN CLOCK with plinth,Louis XV, the dial and movement signed POULAIN A SAINT DENIS, Paris circa 1745. Green horn inlaid with brass fillets. Bronze dial with 24 enamel cartouches. Fine brass movement striking the 1/2 hours on bell. Exceptionally rich, matte and polished gilt bronze mounts and applications. 48x25x125 cm. Very good condition.

Grünes Horn eingelegt mit Messingfilets. Geschweiftes Gehäuse mit markantem Kartuschenaufsatz auf sich nach unten verjüngendem Sockel. Bronzezifferblatt mit 24 Emailkartuschen für arabische Minuten- und römische Stundenzahlen. Feines Messingwerk mit 1/2-Stundenschlag auf Glocke. Ausserordentlich reiche, matt- und glanzvergoldete Bronzebeschläge und -applikationen in Form von Kartuschen, Blumen, Blättern, Chimäre und Zierfries. 48x25x125 cm.

Provenienz: Aus einer Pariser Sammlung. Feine Pendule in sehr gutem Erhaltungszustand. Eine sehr ähnliche Pendule ist abgebildet in: P. Kjellberg, La pendule française du Moyen Age à nos jours, Paris 1997; S. 83 (Abb. E).
