PAIR OF IMPORTANT SMALL CABINETS "AUX CYGNES",

1 as a sécretaire, Restoration, signed IACOB (François Honoré Georges Jacob–Desmalter, 1770–1841), Paris, ca. 1820/22.
Flame mahogany carved with swans, laurel wreath, oil lamp and decorative frieze, the interior inlaid with birch and ebony fillets. Rectangular structure with corner posts, known as "colonnettes en palmiers", on profiled swan base with secret compartment. The front with 1 door, for the sécretaire as a sham and with a foldable writing surface, lined with gold–stamped, brown leather, above double–doors. Fitted interior with drawers and compartments. Bronze knobs. White/grey veined marble top. Some losses. 92.5x45x(open 72)x142cm.
