Design auctions at Koller began in 2006 with our first auction entirely dedicated to the Arts of the 20th Century. This sale featured the collection of Marcel Bergeon, a Swiss patron of the arts, whose classic and unique Design pieces and works of art were presented alongside the collection of the heirs of the Daum glassmaking family from Nancy. The popularity of this new department quickly spread, with auctions held annually presenting the classics of international design. Among the most exciting auctions was the 2009 sale of a private collection comprising works by Castiglioni, Eames, Fornasetti, Botta, Starck and especially seven limited edition pieces by Ron Arad – still the largest number of works by this designer ever offered in one auction. Today, Koller’s Design auctions continue to appeal to a broad cross-section of the buying public, from young collectors looking to furnish their homes to more seasoned connoisseurs who appreciate the classic and often unique forms of these works of art, as well as their perfect suitability to our contemporary lifestyle.
