Parallel to our Old Master and 19th Century Paintings auctions, Koller offers drawings from the Middle Ages to the 19th century in a separate session each March and September. One of the highlights of these auctions was a red chalk drawing by a 16th-century Florentine artist, acquired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art for 720,000 Swiss francs.

The Kunstmuseum Basel recently purchased a German Renaissance drawing attributed to Hans Weiditz. Other top results have been realised for works by Parmigianino, Giovanni Battista Piazetta, Hans Burgkmair, Giambattista Tiepolo and Guercino.

For some years now, the rising popularity of 19th-century art has also been observed in the field of drawings, notably in the increased demand for drawings and studies of this era. An early tree study by Caspar David Friedrich – rediscovered by our department head in a Swiss estate – now enriches not only an enthusiast's collection but also current research on this highly important artist of German Romanticism.

Franz Diegelmann, our specialist and department head for Old Master & 19th Century Drawings, will be pleased to value your works in view of a possible sale through our auctions.

We accept consignments until mid-January for the March auction and until the end of July for the September auction.
