Out of This World – Auction 28 June 2022

Natural History, Space Exploration & Entertainment Memorabilia

A contemporary cabinet of curiosities

Cabinets of curiosities, also called ‘Wunderkammer’, were popular among the European royalty, aristocracy and scholars since the beginning of the Italian Renaissance. They contained a wide variety of fantastic objects and artefacts, with an emphasis on the rare, eclectic and esoteric. Through the vast selection of objects, these collections told a particular story about the world and its history.

Today it is still possible to start or expand such a collection of fascinating and unique objects. In a very special auction to be held in June 2022, entitled ‘Out of This World’, items such as a complete fossilised dinosaur skeleton, meteorites from distant planets, a gigantic egg from a now extinct bird, a Russian spacesuit from the 1970s, and Thor's hammer from the Marvel movie series will be offered. This will be a sale of natural and technological wonders, the likes of which are rarely seen.

We are now accepting consignments for this exciting auction. Christian D. Link, with over ten years’ experience in the specialised fields of Natural History, Space Exploration and Movie Memorabilia, will be pleased to value your objects in view of a possible sale at auction. The deadline for consignments is the end of April.
