TOWER CLOCK,

probably Switzerland, beginning of the 18th century.

Wrought iron, metal and brass. Open frame consisting of iron bands. 3 adjacent movements. Centrally positioned movement with a striking mechanism on each side, striking the 1/4-hour. Wind vane, hands, dials, pendulum and bell, missing. The movement converted later.

Wooden case. Painted dial. Turned wood and brass gear train with verge escapement and front pendulum, striking the 1/4-hour on 2 gongs. External fly-vane. Matching: SIMILAR WALL CLOCK WITH ALARM, Black Forest, 19th century. Brass gear train with anchor escapement and rear pendulum, striking mechanism on gong, alarm on bell. Pendulum broken. 23x13x31 cm.

Pinewood, in part blackened and painted in a reddish color. Dial with paper which was glued on later, painted with stylized flowers. Dated 1684. Movement with verge escapement, striking the hour on glass bell. Lateral doors, missing.

Wooden case, painted to look like black marble and with remains of paintwork. Brass ornaments, such as Diana, hunters with dogs and falcons and scrolls. Metal frontispiece with copper chapter ring, with a small relief featuring Adam and Eve in Paradise, with a snake moving around. Movement with verge escapement, striking the hour on bell (can be switched off).
