IMPORTANT CABINET, INLAID WITH "PIETRA DURA",

Renaissance, Florence, ca. 1600/30.
Shaped ebony, exquisitely inlaid with "Pietra Dura" on all sides; coat of arms of the Medici family, various exotic songbirds, flowers, leaves and decorative frieze. Feet, replaced. Shaped plinth of the frame, later. Front with central door between 2 drawers, flanked by 4 paneled double drawers. Fitted interior with large central drawer between 2 large drawers, flanked by 2 small drawers. Fine gilt bronze and brass mounts and applications, in part altered. Restorations and alterations. The frame, ca. 1870 and attributable to H.A. FOURDINOIS (Henri Auguste Fourdinois, 1830 Paris 1907) . Wood, exquisitely carved with stylised sphinxes, caryatids and foliage, and ebonized.

Louis XV, stamped F.TE AN.A TOR.A (Andrea Torrazza, with a proven source of provenance as of 1759), Genoa, ca. 1760.
Purpleheart and tulipwood in veneer, inlaid with shamrock fillets and decorative frieze. Triple leaf, a push button in the third leaf causes a case with double-doors and 2 compartments over a drawer on each side to pop up from the leaf. 2 secret drawers for game pieces. Gilt bronze mounts and sabots.

attributable to Charles II, G. PRECHT (Gustav Precht, a native of Bremen, settled in Stockholm in 1674 ) . Stockholm, ca. 1700.
"Verre églomisé" and hardwood; on a burgundy ground. Fine gilt bronze mounts and applications, the vases of gilt lead. Slightly chipped.

attributed to Louis XV, J.P. LATZ (Jean Pierre Latz, maître 1740) , the bronze mounts with "c couronné" (a tax mark which was applied to all copper-containing alloys between 1745 and 1749), Paris, ca. 1745/49.
Tulipwood, rosewood and various partly coloured precious woods, in veneer and exquisitely inlaid with flowers, leaves and cartouches and decorative frieze on all sides. Inclined front, the inside with a writing surface lined with black, gold-pressed leather. Fitted interior with large central drawer below a compartment, flanked by 1 drawer on each side. 2 secret compartments. Exquisite, matte and polished gilt bronze mounts and sabots. Free-standing.

Louis XVI, probably after designs by J.J. FOUCOU (Jean-Joseph Foucou, Riez 1739-1815 Paris), the bronze parts from a Parisian master workshop, manufactured for the Russian market, Paris, ca. 1790.
Matte and polished gilt bronze and green/grey speckled Sibirian porphyry. Matching rectangular pedestal with gilt rectangular plinth decorated with palmettes.
