Japan, Shinshintô period (late Edo period), Length 69.4 cm (blade) .
The slightly toriizori formed blade in good quality and condition. Horimono in the shape of flames, snakes, lotus, moon and futasujibi. Shinogizukuri style, midareba hamon, subtle masame hada. Signed: Muramasa Myôhôrengekyô (gimei: not authentical), presumably a work of Shigehide (known for Muramasa imitations). The mounting (koshirae) in good quality and condition. Nice plain red laquered saya, a sober tsuba with vegetable, fuchi und kashira with goose decoration. No NBTHK papers.
