Japan, Shintô period (Edo period, 18th c.), length (blade) 76 cm.
Shinogizukuri style blade, koshizori sugata with blood groove, gunome midareba hamon and subtle itame hada. Koshirae (mounting): black lacquer scabbard with mica and silver dragon mounts. Octagonal tsuba, fuchi, menuki and kashira decorated with hermit, monk, dragon and oni motifs. Some wear, scratches and spots at blade, minor damage at lacquer, mekugi replaced. No NBTHK certificate.
