Wooden core, applied with chased silver plates, and decorated with pine cones and rosettes. Traces of a former gilding On the front: enameled God the Father in a Gothic niche with a canopy, on the back: an empty rectangular chamber, originally for holding a relic (door missing). Mounted on a later conical shaft with a flat nodus in gilt copper. Punch mark "PVE" below a crown, and date or place stamp B.

Striking mechanism, striking the hours, with locking plate with internal teeth and external fly vane. Gothicized bell cage. The dial painted later with a view of Zug and the coat-of-arms of the Zug family Brandenberg.

Open case with a round cross-section. Movement and striking mechanism arranged one behind the other, with verge escapement and foliot. Striking mechanism with locking plate with internal teeth, striking the hour on bell. Small alarm movement. The top of the dial is painted with an angel playing a shawm. The lower section features two slightly protruding coats-of-arms with three stars and three half-moons, respectively.

FOLDABLE AND PORTABLE SUN DIAL

Renaissance, Nuremberg, signed Paulus Reinmann and dated 1606. Paulus Reinmann, Nuremberg 1557–1609.
Ivory with red and black engraving. Baseplate with a compass with engraved declination and cardinal points. Circumferential hour scale of 4-12-8. Below, a concave scale with the numerical sequence 8-23-16. The inside of the cover is engraved with various cities and their latitudes, above, a scale with the signs of the zodiac. String gnomon missing. Perforation. The back of the baseplate (bottom) features a moon clock with a gilt brass moon disc surrounded by day- and hour scales, 4 brass feet. Engraved inscription "Epacta Gregorii Anno 1603". On the cover (outside), the compass rose with 16 cardinal points and scale from 1-32, hands designed as a human hand and a peephole for observing the compass.
Closed 10 x 6.5 cm.

Pierced, engraved and gilt brass, and cut glass. Oval-shaped, the sides decorated with facetted glass elements, in brass mounts decorated with scrolled leaves and buds. The front and the back open up, and are decorated with glass elements. The rear cover is likewise decorated with facetted glass elements. Silvered dial with hours in Roman numerals, enameled with a Phoenix and foliage (with losses). Fine movement with verge escapement, and striking the hour on a bell arranged in the rear cover. Iron cut-outs designed as tendrils. Barrels engraved with foliage. Suspension eyelet.

Winterthur, beginning of the 17th century. Monogrammed and dated 16A*L16 (for Andreas II. Liechti, 1582–1650).
Wrought iron, in part painted. Open movement, the corners with flat, slanted bands, ending in scrolls at the top. Movement with verge escapement and balance wheel, and striking mechanism, striking the 1/2-hour on bell, with a small fly vane, arranged one behind the other. Bell cage ending in a carnation, and decorated with small blossoms. The dial is painted with a putto and an hourglass, and dated 1616.
