BELT BUCKLE - former Kofler-Truniger collection

Islamic, probably Egypt, 9th/10th century AD.
Engraved in gold (94%) and partially inlaid with almandine garnets. The back with three eyelets.
4.3 × 1.9 cm. Total weight 19 g.
Losses to the inlays. Scratches to the gold.

Provenance:
- Collection of Ernst and Marthe Kofler-Truniger (1903–1990 & 1918–1999), Lucerne before 1964 (inv. no. K722F).
- Swiss private collection, Lucerne, acquired from the above in ca. 1974.
- By inheritance in the same Swiss family collection, Lucerne.
