A PENDANT EARRING WITH EROS - former Kofler-Truniger collection

Hellenistic, 3rd–2nd century BC.
Gold. The disc decorated with a rosette, the pendant designed as a winged Eros with a bowl and staff in his hands; a decorative band crosses his body.
4.7 cm. Total weight 5 g.
Wings slightly bent. Eros with small cracks to the sides.

Provenance:
- Former collections of Ludwig Marx, Mainz, and Albert Sieck, Munich.
- Auction Dr. F. X. Weizinger & Co., Munich, October 28–31, 1918, lot 986, ill 34.
- Probably auctioned by Theodor Fischer, Lucerne, June 13–17, 1950, lot 812 (acquired June 17, 1950, according to index card).
- Collection Ernst and Marthe Kofler-Truniger (1903–1990 & 1918–1999), Lucerne (inv. no. K732), acquired from the above.
- Swiss private collection, Lucerne, acquired from the above in ca. 1974.
- By inheritance in the same Swiss family collection, Lucerne.
