PAIR OF IMPORTANT PEDESTALS WITH BOULLE MARQUETRY,late Louis XIV, after designs by A.C. BOULLE (Andre Charles Boulle, 1642 Paris 1732), Paris, 19th century. Ebony exceptionally finely inlaid with brown tortoiseshell, blue horn, and finely engraved brass fillets. Exceptionally fine, matte and polished gilt bronze mounts and applications. H 130 cm.
Provenienz: Privatsammlung, USA. Feines Paar von bestechender Qualität. Modellogleiche Postamente sind abgebildet in: A. Pradère, Les Ebénistes Français de Louis XIV à la Révolution, Paris 1989; S. 100 (Abb. 218 und 219). Ein weiteres Paar war Teil der Sammlungen H. de Givenchy und wurde bei Christie's Monte Carlo am 4.12.1993 (Katalognr. 26). Ein drittes Paar, das aus der Sammlung Greenberg stammt, wurde bei Sotheby's New York am 21.5.2004 (Katalognr. 12) verkauft. Ein ähnliches Paar wurde bei Sotheby's London am 7.12.200 (Katalognr. 72) verkauft.
