This painting was recently rediscovered in a private collection and was hitherto unknown to Giacometti research. According to family tradition, the work was acquired by the aunt of the present owner from Alberto Giacometti's childhood friend and supporter Lucas Lichtenhan, who went to school together with the budding artist in Schiers.
