PARTISAN,

Electoral Saxon Polish, ca. 1732, Saxon one-hundred Swiss Guard.
Blade-shaped tip with central ridge.The lower part of the blade designed as a double-headed crowned eagle. The eagle, carved into the steel, and etched. Conical round socket with three annular beads, and two langets. Round shaft, minimally shortened.
L 193.5 cm.

Rare, etched decoration very well preserved. This parade weapon was introduced after 1725 for Augustus II the Strong (1670-1733), King of Poland and Elector of Saxony, for the Swiss Guard. Cf. K.
