PAIR OF LIDDED VASES WITH BRONZE MOUNTS,

Louis XVI, the porcelain from China, Kangxi ca. 1700, the bronze from Paris, ca. 1765/75.
Matte and polished gilt bronze and finely painted porcelain; with light flowers, leaves and decorative frieze in "décor de rinceaux vermiculés" on a red background.
H 40.5 cm.

Provenance:
- formerly in the Collection of Monsieur et Madame B, Château d'Etoiles between 1900 and 1950.
- Auction Sotheby's Monte Carlo, 15 June 1995 (Lot No. 159).
- Collection D. Riahi, Paris.
- Auction Christie's New York, 2 November 2000 (Lot No. 47).
- from a private collection, Switzerland.

An identical pair of vases was formerly part of the Collections of Wendell Cherry and was sold at Sotheby's New York on 20 May 1994 (Lot No. 36).
