Japan, 19th c. Height 28 cm.
Lacquered wood frame with mon (faymily crest) decor. The lower part filled with painted panels: karako ("Chinese" boys) at a cockfight and flowering cherry trees and willows on gold lacquer ground. (2)

Provenance: Old private collection from the French part of Switzerland.
