Louis XIV, by A.J. OPPENORDT (Alexandre Jean Oppenordt, 1639–1715), Paris, ca. 1690/1700.
Ebony and red tortoiseshell, exquisitely inlaid in "premiere partie" and "contre–partie"; flowers, leaves, vases, cartouches and decorative frieze. Exceptionally fine, matte and polished gilt bronze mounts and applications in the form of masks, "masque d'indienne", laurel leaves and decorative frieze. 43x34x116.5 cm.

IMPORTANT COMMODE "A FLEURS",
so–called "marqueterie au jasmin", Louis XIV, from a Parisian master workshop, ca. 1720/30.
Ebony, rosewood, maple, amaranth, sycamore and cherry, exquisitely inlaid all–around with flowers, birds, grotesques, mascarons, scrolled leaves and cartouches. Top edged in bronze, curved legs. Front "en arbalète" with 3 drawers, the top drawer divided in two. Opulent, matte and polished gilt bronze mounts, sabots and handles. Restorations and some cracks in the veneer. 119x66.5x90 cm.
