MANTEL CLOCK WITH BOULLE MARQUETRY,

Louis XIV, Paris, ca. 1700. Movement, later.
Ebonized wood, decorated with tortoiseshell and inlaid with garlands, tendrils and scrolled leaves in tin and brass. Bronze mounts. The dial, lined with brown velour (later). Brass chapter ring. Signed MARTINOT À PARIS. Later movement with anchor escapement, striking the 1/2-hour on bell. Movement No. 12153. Losses in the marquetry and pillars. Movement needs to be serviced.
