Diese attraktive Ikone entstand unter Stileinflüssen der Region Obere Wolga. Als Randheilige wählte der Auftraggeber dieser Ikone den heiligen Demetrius (hier in kaiserlichem Ornat) links sowie rechts die heilige Berenike. Bei der vorliegenden Tafel handelt es sich um eine Arbeit, die in ihrer Malweise und Herkunft nur selten auf dem Markt vertreten ist.

Oil-tempera mixed media on panel. Panel minimally warped. Verso with two horizontal cross battens inset into the panel, as well as one vertical indentation to the right. Paint surface with a fine network of craquelure and light surface soiling. Colour abrasion and small localised losses visible in places. Minimal abrasion along the edges. <br>Under UV light: minor retouching in the picture surface and along the edges visible.
