Woolly mammoth, also called furry mammoth, is a member of the elephant family.
The most striking external feature of the woolly giant is its two tusks in the upper jaw.
In contrast to elephant species still living today, the tusks in the adult mammoth are curved upward in a spiral pattern. The tips point inwards and are thus directed towards each other. Besides presenting dominance in mating or ritual combat or as a warning signal for food competitors, the tusks were often used for searching for food.
The presented here tusk is in a fantastic original condition, showing beautiful color and textures. It comes with a custom built contemporary stand.
