According to the index card, there seems to be some disagreement regarding the dating and geographical location. According to Weizinger's auction catalog from 1918, the amulet is of Etruscan origin with Egyptian stylistic influences. Prof. Hafner, who advised Kofler-Truniger, locates the amulet in Egypt or the Middle East and dates it to around the 3rd century AD. Kofler-Truniger cites Kazimierz Michalowski's contribution to excavations in Palmyra from his own research. Similar jewelry can be seen on stone sculptures there, and therefore Kofler-Truniger does not rule out a Palmyra origin (cf. Kazimierz Michalowski: Palmyre: fouilles polonaises 1959. Vol. I, Warsaw 1960, p. 101, figs. 109 & 110).
