A STAUNTON CHESS SET WITH AN ASSORTED CHESSBOARD
Probably England, early 20th century.
32 figures in burlwood and walnut, turned and carved. In a rectangular, black leather-covered casket, lined with cream-colored silk and green fabric on the inside. Assorted chessboard in red and cognac-colored leather, as well as gold embossing, the outside made to look like marble. Chessboard stamped on the outside: Jaques London.
H dark king 11 cm, H white king 10.5 cm, H pawn 5.5 cm. Chessboard: 55.5 × 56 cm.
