CEYLON SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND CLASP/PENDANT, probably Germany, 19th century
Silver and yellow gold 585, 7g.
Jewellery piece with two clasps, probably originally designed as a necklace clasp, later fitted with a bail to be worn as a pendant, with a coiled pin and safety catch for use as a detachable element in another piece of jewellery. Set with 1 unheated Ceylon sapphire of ca. 3.7 ct, within a double surround of circular-cut diamonds totalling ca. 1.1 ct. Ca. 2.4 cm Ø.
