In the accompanying text to the exhibition "Chefs-d’oeuvre de la faïence et de la porcelaine européennes du XVIIIe siècle – Collection Lucie Schmidheiny", held at the Musée Ariana in Geneva from 31 May to 1 October 2001, it is stated that ducks with a black triangle on the bill are male ducks, i.e. drakes.
Johann Wilhelm Lanz (1725–after 1760) is known primarily as a porcelain modeller for the Frankenthal porcelain manufactory founded by Paul Hannong, but had previously already worked at Hannong’s Strasbourg manufactory.
