PAIR OF CHESTS OF DRAWERS, late Louis XV, after designs by J.M. HOPPENHAUPT (Johann Michael II Hoppenhaupt, 1709-1769) or J.M. KAMBLI (Johann Melchior Kambli, 1717-1783), Berlin/Potsdam, 19th century. Purple heart and mahogany veneer finely inlaid with lozenge and diamond motif and ivory stars. Bombé on all sides with prominent angles, shaped front with 2 drawers, the upper drawer divided into 2, gilt bronze mounts and sabots, moulded "Vert de Mer"-top. 96x56x96 cm. Provenance: from a Roman collection.
