SABRE

French ca. 1745, Grenadier, Swiss Guard Regiment in French service.
Iron hilt, spherical pommel with conical neck, grip and guard plate screwed into the pommel. The quillon, engraved "G151" (duty number of the Grenadier, internal weapons control), thumb plate. Two-part guard plate, painted sheet metal with punctiform piercings. Handle, wrapped with brass wire. Single-edged blade. Hollow cut and fluting, etched ornamental decoration featuring trophies.
L 93 cm, C: 1, single-edged blade L 78.2 cm, W 2.8 cm.
