The flowerbed shown here is probably a north-eastern view of the flower terrace in the Wannsee garden, as indicated by the presence of the blue pansies. There are other paintings and pastels which show the flowerbed from other angles, all done in the spring. The pastel is very well-preserved, and captivates with its bright colours and intense brushstrokes.
