CABINET
Venice, Renaissance, 16th/17th century.
Ebony, walnut and softwood, carved with caryatids, pilasters and meander band, and lacquered black. Opulently painted with tendrils and scrolls in gold. With applied mother-of-pearl, agate, amber, lapis-lazuli and other semi-precious stones. Rectangular body with slightly protruding, hinged top, the inside applied with a mirror, opening up into a compartment. Architectural front with thirteen drawers and a central door.
