Provenance:
- Collection M. Sigrist, Lucerne.

Pole weapons designated "Solothurn helbards" first appear in the catalogue of the Old Solothurn Armoury, which was published in 1897 by the Armoury Administrator, B. Schlappner. The probably original 1st type, dating from the end of the 17th century, with coat of arms, served as a model for the replicas produced around 1860/70, mainly in Lucerne. Between 1888 (expert opinion and the catalogue for Solothurn by K.S. Bossard, goldsmith, Lucerne) and 1905 (Catalogue R. Wegeli), 17 of these replicas without coat of arms were added to the Armoury Collection, and 13 of them are still there today. The design for the 2nd type can be found in the unpublished "Album Mittelalterlicher Waffen" by J. Meyer-Bielmann, Lucerne ca. 1855/65 (Hist. Museum Luzern). Beglinger/Leutenegger, Stangenwaffen, Altes Zeughaus Solothurn, 2004, pp. 25-27, Nos. 30-42.
