DESK SET WITH LYRE CLOCK,Empire, the dial signed THOMIRE & CO (Pierre Philippe Thomire, 1751-1843) and MOINET L'AINE A PARIS (Louis Moinet, 1768 Paris 1853), Paris circa 1810/15. Matte and polished gilt bronze, partly burnished bronze and ebonised burl birch. With recesses for writing implements and covered vessels for ink and sand. The lyre clock at the centre flanked by shallow bowls with 2 shaped light branches "aux femmes ailées" and vase shaped nozzles. The clock with enamel dial and Paris escapement striking the 1/2 hours on bell. Fine bronze mounts and applications. 48x32x46 cm. Provenance: from a Berlin collection.
