Dr. Pieter Biesboer confirmed the authenticity of the present painting on the basis of a photograph. He points to the finely worked figures, trees and mountains and dates this work of the Haarlem painter to the 1660s.
Condition:
Oil on panel, cradled. Paint surface well-preserved, with a fine network of craquelure.
Under UV: retouchings along the edges, two horizontal, retouched hair cracks on the right. Some smaller retouchings in the sky, on the figures and in the foreground visible. Varnish appears in fluorescent green.
Overall condition good.
