In light of this characteristic decoration inspired by Chinese models, this piece belongs to the 82-piece “Taffel Servis mit gelber Glaur und bundten Feldern”, which was delivered to August III in 1734 and was known as the “Gelbes Jagdservice”. Together with many other porcelain pieces arranged according to background colors, it was planned for the magnificent furnishings of the Japanese Palace (Annotation by J. Weber SKD Inv. No. PE235a and b; idem, Meissener Porzellan 2013, pp. 416-424, No. 429); for the tureen shape, cf. ibid. p. 203.
