Together with many other porcelain pieces arranged according to background colors, it was planned for the magnificent furnishings of the Japanese Palace (Annotation by J. Weber SKD Inv. No. PE235a and b; idem, Meissener Porzellan 2013, pp. 416-424, No. 429); for the tureen shape, cf. ibid. p. 203.
