Probably Canosa, Apulia, 3rd century B.C.
Terracotta, hollowed with traces of engobe. Rectangular opening in the back. Upright, female figure standing slightly in contrapposto, wrapped in a chiton. The arms bent in a gesture of lamentation (left hand incomplete, right forearm incomplete). Long neck, expressive facial features, shoulder-length parted hair.

Verso with old collection labels and inscriptions: C.H.Z. 1082 and 234 A.R.N.C.

EXTREMELY RARE EUCHARISTIC DOVE

Limoges, 1st third of the 13th century.
Chased, engraved and parcel-gilt copper with polychrome enamel champlevé in the form of feathers and flowered arabesques. Ciborium designed as a dove on a round base. The upper side of the tail, the round base and the movable wings on the sides made of thick copper with gemstone inlays. The body rests on two tubular legs, which transition directly into a flat round base, without feet. Hinged lid with a handle (possibly replaced) on the dove's back, opening onto a hollow host container.

LATE RENAISSANCE TOWER CLOCK WITH DATE

Southern Germany, probably Augsburg, 1st half of the 17th century.
Brass and bronze engraved with scrolled leaves and gilt. Rectangular, architectural case, the corners set with fluted three-quarter columns. Stepped pierced belfry with balustrade, the corners decorated with pointed pyramids. Dome-shaped top. On a stepped, profiled base, supported by recumbent lions (added later). Front with silvered chapter ring for the Roman hours (I-XII) and later inner dial for the Arabic hours (13-24). Below, a small silvered dial for the date display. The back with two small silvered dials for the quarter-hour striking mechanism. Iron movement with verge escapement and wheel balance, quarter-hour striking train on two bells. The movement plates and the spring housing are made of brass. Movement winding with gut string via a worm wheel.

Rectangular iron box with hinged lid and lock, on flattened feet. The edges with flame moldings and remnants of paintwork or gilding. The walls and the lid inlaid with pierced, chiseled brass plates in the form of trailing flowers, winged hybrid creatures and grotesque figures. The inside of the lock plate bears an engraved decoration in the form of a crowned double-headed eagle and the monogram IMK as well as the date 1606. Lock with six bolts. Keyhole under the sliding lid. 1 key. Inscribed at the bottom: "Heinz u. Adrienne Haushofer zu ihrer Verlobung 1928 von Max, Caroline u. Richard Bernheimer in München.

Walnut, opulently and and finely inlaid with in part engraved ivory in the form of geometric decoration and arabesques. The front drawer inlaid with three round arches, the center with an architectural depiction, the arches with flower vases, bordered by geometric friezes and arabesque vines. Hinged cover opening up into a compartment, and hinged drawer opening up into ten drawers and two doors. The interior is inlaid to match the exterior. Iron lock and bronze mounts.
