Christiaan Lucht, M. A. confirms the authenticity of the present painting on the basis of a photograph, for which we thank him, and dates its execution between 1850 and 1855. He describes the composition as a characteristic example from the oeuvre of Cornelis Lieste, who possessed excellent skills in the creation of realistic chiaroscuro effects.
