RAPIER

French, in the style of ca. 1600, Historicism, 3rd quarter of the 19th century.
Iron hilt, conical pommel with carved decoration, rivet head. Open knuckle guard. Solid grip, carved decoration: owner's initials "TR" with a crown on top, cartouche with armored warrior. On the obverse side of the hilt, the entire surface is decorated with inlaid silver, line ornaments and dots. Double-edged blade (L 109.5 cm), German, 17th century, signed "ANTONIO RUIZ IN TOLEDO", rhombic cross-section.

A decorative, elaborately-crafted rapier from the time of the 2nd French Empire. Solingen blade with an imitated Spanish signature of a well-known Toledan armorer.
