EDITORIAL

DEAR READER,

Our September auctions once again focus on Old Masters and the decorative arts. One of the highlights, on 17 September 2026, will be the collection of Dr Peter Ducret, one of the most important collections of faience still in private hands. More than 250 works will come under the hammer in this exceptional sale, accompanied by an extensive scholarly catalogue with contributions from leading international ceramics experts.

Our Old Master Paintings auction brings together numerous Dutch, Flemish, Italian and French works, among them two superbly preserved and signed paintings by the celebrated but very different brothers Jan and Pieter Brueghel. The following pages present a selection of highlights from our forthcoming series of auctions. For the full picture, our meticulously researched catalogues cover all the works to be offered in our sales this autumn.

You can also visit our website for a look back at the outstanding results achieved during the first six months of this year.

Nine lots selling for more than CHF 1 million and a sell-through rate of almost 90 per cent underline the current strength of the market for art and jewellery. The top result in our June auctions was CHF 7 million (€7.5 million) for a late Lake Geneva landscape by Ferdinand Hodler, followed by a view of Venice by Paul Signac at CHF 4.16 million (€4.4 million). The same auction series also saw a Rolex Daytona ‘Paul Newman’ set a new world record at CHF 2.4 million (€2.5 million).

We are still accepting consignments until the end of September for our December auctions of Jewellery, Wristwatches, Modern & Contemporary Art and Swiss Art.

Yours,
Cyril Koller
