IRON CLOCK WITH MOON PHASE
Gothic, Southern Germany, dated 1587.
Iron frame in pilaster design with openwork bell cage with angled and parcel-gilt pinnacles. Painted metal dial, the chapter ring with Roman hours, with an openwork dial for the moon phase above it. Movements arranged one behind the other, going train with verge escapement and balance wheel, hour-striking mechanism on bell with disk on the rear. Iron weights. Later wall bracket.
19 × 21 × 45.5 cm.
Additions and restorations. Paintwork later. Balance wheel, spindle wheel, and bell replaced.
