Photography
Photography auctions appeal particularly to a younger clientele looking to collect artworks at affordable prices. The market for photographs is growing in importance due to a new, broader group of collectors. Movement studies by Eadweard Muybridge, Native American portraits by Edward Curtis, early photographs by Jean-Gabriel Eynard or James Anderson, photographs of the Bauhaus movement by Lázló Moholy-Nagy, Theodore Lux Feininger and Herbert Bayer, and avant-garde photographs by Man Ray and Frantisek Drtikol are already among the classics of the field.
Classical-modern photographs up to contemporary art photographs by Swiss artists such as Albert Steiner, Emil Meerkämper, Adolphe Braun, Robert Frank, René Burri, Balthasar Burkhard, René Groebli, Hannes Schmied, Fischli-Weiss are represented as well as works by international artists such as Horst P. Horst, Ansel Adams, Henri-Cartier Bresson, Robert Doisneau, Richard Avedon, Bert Stern, Nobuyoshi Araki, Thomas Ruff, Wolfgang Tillmans, Richard Prince and Cindy Sherman.
Gabriel Müller, our specialist and department head for Photography, will be pleased to appraise and value your works in view of a possible auction consignment. Our Photography auctions are held in July and December. Consignments are accepted until late April and late September.
If you wish to consign to one of our auctions, we will value your artworks free of charge. Please send us photos if possible, or call us. We will arrange an appointment to view your property at your home or in one of our offices in Zurich, Geneva, Florence, Munich or Düsseldorf. You will then receive our auction estimates so that you can make your decision.
