PAIR OF FAIENCE PARROT EWERS

Glienitz or Proskau, ca. 1770.
Each bird perched on a branch that forms the handle of the ewer and rests on a round tree stump. Painted in bright colors, green, yellow and ochre. Each head modeled separately as a removable lid. Without mark.
H 25.5 cm.


Minimally restored.

This type of ewer exists in several variations, not only from the Glienitz manufactory, founded in 1752, but also from nearby Proskau, see comparisons in the Pflueger Collection in New York, see Hugo Morley Fletcher, The Pflueger Collection, London 1993.
