METAMORPHIC TABLE,known as a "table a glissiere", Louis XVI, attributed to A.L. GILBERT (Andre Louis Gilbert, maitre 1774), Paris circa 1775/80. Tulipwood, rosewood and various precious woods with fine inlays on all sides. Sliding top edged in bronze. The front with 1 drawer with hinged writing surface, the inside lined with mirror and with 3 small drawers and compartments for writing utensils. Secret lock. Gilt bronze mounts and sabots on concealed casters. Some restoration required. 70x47x77 cm.
