IMPORTANT PAINTED COMMODE, Louis XV, probably after designs by F. CUVILLIES (François Cuvilliés, Soignies 1697-1768 Munich), from a Munich imperial workshop, ca. 1760. Poplar, exceptionally richly carved with shells, cartouches, leaves, paws and ornamental frieze and painted white and partially gilt. Gilt bronze mounts and drop handles. Paint restored. 165x61.5x92.5 cm. Provenance: From a European collection.

Louis XV, wohl nach Vorlagen von F. CUVILLIES (François Cuvilliés, Soignies 1697-1768 München), aus einer Münchner Hofwerkstatt, um 1760.
Pappelholz ausserordentlich reich beschnitzt mit Muscheln, Kartuschen, Blattwerk, Girlanden, Tatzen und Zierfries sowie weiss gefasst und teils vergoldet. Geschweifter, trapezförmiger Korpus mit vorstehendem und randprofiliertem Blatt "en faux marbre" und markant vorstehenden Eckstollen auf wellig ausgeschnittener Zarge mit geschweiften Beinen auf Ball- und Klauenfüssen. Geschweifte Front mit 3 Schubladen. Vergoldete Bronzebeschläge und -hänger. Fassung restauriert. 165x61,5x92,5 cm.
