PAIR OF GAMES TABLES "A MECANISME", Louis XVI, attributed to D. ROENTGEN and his workshop (David Roentgen, Neuwied 1741-1809 Paris), Neuwied ca. 1785. Mahogany in veneer. Rectangular, triple-foldable leaf, lines with green felt. Inlaid with checkers game board, can also be used as a bookrest. Backgammon game board pops up with the aid of a spring mechanism. Secret drawer behind the foldable leg. Removable legs. Fine gilt bronze and brass mounts. 98x48.5x(open 96)x79.5 cm. Provenance: - formerly Didier Aaron, Paris. - from a European collection.

Mahagoni gefriest. Rechteckiges, dreifach aufklappbares Blatt - mit grünem Filz belegt, mit Damespiel eingelegt sowie ebenfalls mit grünem Filz belegt und teils aufklappbar als Lesepult verwendbar - auf gerader Zarge mit schwenkbarem hinteren Fuss als Stütze für die offenen Blätter, auf sich nach unten verjüngenden Vierkantbeinen. Per Federmechanismus aufsteigende, in der Zarge kaschierte Schatulle für das Backgammonspiel bzw. als Schatulle für die Spielutensilien, flankiert von je 1 Fach mit Lamellenverschluss. Geheimschublade hinter dem schwenkbaren Bein. Abschraubbare Beine. Feine, vergoldete Bronze- und Messingbeschläge und -kannelüren. 98x48,5x(offen 96)x79,5 cm.
