A FINE LACQUERED WOOD FIGURE OF NYOIRIN KANNON WITH HALO AND LOTUS THRONE. Japan, Edo period, height 59 cm. Some damages due to age.

Lackiertes und gefasstes Holz. Esoterische Form des Kannon und Hüter über die sechs Bereiche der Wiedergeburt. Er sitzt sechsarmig auf einem Lotosthron, der Kopf ist auf eine der Hände gestützt. Die anderen Hände formen Mudras. Urna und Augen sind aus Glas. Eine geschnitzte und vergoldete Wolkenmandorla umfängt die Gestalt. Der Sockel ist zweiteilig mit beschnitzter Balustrade. Altersschäden.
