LARGE TAPESTRY SUITE OF FURNITURE,Louis XV, the covers from the Manufacture d'Aubusson, the later frames in the style of J.B. Tilliard (Jean-Baptiste I Tilliard, maitre 1738, or Jean-Baptiste II Tilliard, maitre 1752) or N. Q. FOLIOT (Nicolas-Quentin Foliot, maitre 1745), Paris, 18th/19th century. Comprising: 1 three-seater canape and 8 fauteuils "a la reine". Shaped and exceptionally finely carved gilt beech. Tapestry covers in excellent condition, with depictions from the fables of La Fontaine: including "Le taureau et la grenouille", "Le loup et la brebis", "Le chat et l'oiseau", "Le renard et le coq", "Le lion et les brebis", "L'aigle et la tortue", "Le renard et le cigogne". Canape 220x80x42x116 cm, Fauteuils 75x60x42x101 cm. Provenance: - From a Viennese collection. - Galerie Koller Zurich auction on 17.9.1997 (Lot No. 598).

Bestehend aus 1 dreiplätzigen Canapé und 8 Fauteuils "à la reine", Buche moulüriert und ausserordentlich fein beschnitzt mit Muscheln, Blumen, Blättern und Zierfries sowie vergoldet. Geschweifter, trapezförmiger Sitz auf wellig ausgeschnittener Zarge mit elegant geschweiften Beinen. Flache, jochförmig abschliessende Rückenlehne mit gepolsterten, leicht ausladenden Armlehnen auf leicht zurückgesetzten, geschweiften Stützen. Hervorragend erhaltene Tapisseriebezüge mit Darstellungen aus den Fabeln von La Fontaine: "Le taureau et la grenouille", "Le loup et la brébis", "Le chat et l'oiseau", "Le renard et le coq", "Le lion et les brébis", "L'aigle et la tortue", "Le renard et le cigogne" u.a. Canapé 220x80x42x116 cm, Fauteuils 75x60x42x101 cm.
