SMALL WORK TABLE, SO-CALLED "TABLE A ECRIRE", Louis XV, from the workshop of BVRB (Bernard II Van Risenburgh, maitre 1735), with signature EHB (E. HOLMES BALDOCK, 1777 London 1845, active as "marchand mercier"), Paris circa 1760. Tulipwood, amaranth and "bois de bout" finely inlaid with flowers, cartouches and frieze. The shaped top edged in bronze, the front with leather lined sliding ledge over 3 sans traverse drawers, gilt bronze brass mounts and sabots. Freestanding. Restored and with alterations. 53x37x71 cm. Provenance: - Sotheby's London 10.12.2003 (Lot No 95). - from a German collection. Exhibited: - TEFAF Maastricht in 2006.
