SIGNIFICANT ROCOCO COMMODE

Rococo, Berne, ca. 1745/50. By Mathäus Funk (1697–1783).
Purpleheart and rosewood inlaid in rectangular reserves in veneer. Curved body on a cut-out frame and curved legs, the front legs with bronze sabots. Front with two sans-traverse drawers. Drawers with brass fluting. Opulently gilt bronze mounts designed as rocailles, blossoms and leaves. The inside lined with multicolor, marbled pasted paper. Gray/pink Oberhasli marble. 1 key.
94 × 58 × 85.5 cm.

Few losses to the veneer. Signs of use. Bronze fittings probably later.
