Decorated with stylized blossoms, acanthus leaves, and a frieze of feathers. Pine-cone finial. Suspended from three openwork chain links with faceted glass inserts. Perforation for former fitting for electricity.
Ø 46 cm, H with chain ca. 95 cm.
Small chips to the glass. Bronze slightly rubbed. Signs of wear.
A similar ceiling chandelier from the Birch Vestibule of Rosendal Palace near Stockholm is depicted in Håkan Groth: Neoclassicism in the North: Swedish Furniture and Interiors 1770–1850. New York/London 1990, p. 194, fig. 181. An imposing central ceiling chandelier with lavish crystal-glass hangings and a gilt bronze pendulum clock were verifiably manufactured by the company Pessoneaux & Colomb for the “Yellow Salon” (adjacent to the Birch Vestibule) in Rosendal Palace (ibid., p. 196).
